The world's largest atom smasher used its accelerator Tuesday to speed up proton beams for the first time as scientists moved ahead in efforts to learn more about the universe. Experiments like this are "aimed" at finding out about the nature of the universe. What is everything made of and how is it put together?
This is the latest in a long stream of experiments that have been unlocking the secretes of what we are made of.
For this project yous should read this article (copy this link and go to the site: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091124/ap_on_sc/eu_sci_big_bang_machine/print ) and then write a paragraph that summarizes the article. Paragraphs should be at least three well constructed sentences.
Next you should find and link to an article about a different endeavor to find out more about the nature of the atom. There have been experiments going back over 100 years to try to find out more about the atom.
Finally write a paragraph summarizing the material in that article. Again, paragraphs should be at least three well constructed sentences.

Make sure you put your ID and class section on your work. This project is due by midnight Sunday, 12/13. Remember that you need at least one project out of every two. If you did not do the previous one, you must do this one. If you do both projects one will count for extra credit.
If you have problems, email me at aphsbio at gmail.com. Make sure that you tell me what your problem was, and you can include your completed project.
